Apple iPhone Duo introduces an entirely new iPhone form factor. It is Apple’s first foldable iPhone, combining two full displays, a titanium body, A20 Pro performance and an iOS 27 experience built around folding and multitasking. Closed, Duo works like a compact everyday iPhone. Open it and the 7.6-inch inner display gives video, games, documents and multiple apps far more room.

Apple’s first foldable iPhone

The inner 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR OLED has a resolution of 1878 x 2670 pixels. On the outside, a separate 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR display uses a 1398 x 2034 resolution.

The outer screen is practical for normal one-handed use, while opening the phone creates a much larger workspace for media, documents and side-by-side apps.

ProMotion on both displays

Both screens support ProMotion up to 120Hz, Always-On Display, HDR and True Tone. Outdoor peak brightness reaches 3000 nits and minimum brightness drops to 1 nit.

The inner panel uses a nano-texture finish that reduces glare and helps make the fold area less distracting during normal use.

5.2mm when open

iPhone Duo measures only 5.2mm thick when open and 11.3mm when closed. Weight is 254 grams. The frame uses Grade 5 titanium and the precision hinge is built from more than 100 components.

Built for a folding design

Ceramic Shield 2 protects the outer display, while Ceramic Shield covers the back. The flexible inner screen uses high-strength glass, custom adhesive layers, a titanium support plate and a scratch-resistant nano-texture cover layer. iPhone Duo is rated IP68 for splash, water and dust resistance.

A20 Pro with vapor chamber cooling

The A20 Pro includes a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Hardware-accelerated ray tracing is supported.

Apple rates the CPU up to 20% faster than A19 Pro with up to 50% more memory bandwidth. A custom vapor chamber helps maintain performance during gaming, multitasking and AI workloads.

A battery in each half

iPhone Duo places a high-energy battery on each side of the device. Apple’s power management system balances the two batteries so they operate as one.

Video playback reaches up to 44 hours when using the outer display and up to 31 hours on the inner display. Apple rates mixed use across both displays at up to 24 hours per charge.

Wired charging can reach around 50% in about 20 minutes. MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging support up to 25W.

48MP Dual Fusion camera system

The rear camera system combines a 48MP Fusion Main and 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide. The Main camera uses a 26mm focal length, ƒ/1.6 aperture and sensor-shift optical image stabilization. It also provides 2x optical-quality zoom.

The 48MP Ultra Wide covers a 120-degree field of view and supports macro photography. Users can shoot at 0.5x, 1x and 2x.

Camera features made possible by folding

Duo Preview shows a live camera preview on the outer display so the person being photographed can check framing before the shot. The rear 48MP cameras can also be used for selfies while the second display works as the viewfinder.

Smart Take can automatically capture a photo when everyone is ready, while Kid Cue uses animations on the outer display to help children look toward the camera.

Two front-facing camera experiences

A 12MP Center Stage camera is available on the outside, while a separate under-display FaceTime camera serves the large inner screen. Duo FaceTime also makes use of both sides of the device during calls.

4K 120 fps Dolby Vision video

The 48MP Main camera records 4K Dolby Vision video at up to 120 fps. Cinematic effects can be applied after capture at up to 60 fps, while Audio Mix and 4K Dolby Vision Time-lapse add more control for video creators.

iOS 27 built around two screens

iOS 27 adapts its interface to the folded and open positions. Split View allows two apps to run side by side for the first time on iPhone, and two windows of the same app can also be opened at once.

App pairs can be saved for quick access later. Dynamic Island, navigation controls and system elements also move according to orientation and display position.

StandBy without charging

The folding body lets iPhone Duo stand on a surface by itself. StandBy can work in this position even when the phone is not connected to power, turning it into a clock, photo frame, calendar or widget display.

Apple Pencil support

Support for Apple Pencil USB-C is coming later in 2026. It can be used for notes, drawing and document markup on either display.

Touch ID in the side button

iPhone Duo uses Touch ID integrated into the side button instead of Face ID. It works consistently whether the device is open or closed.

eSIM only worldwide

There is no physical SIM slot. iPhone Duo supports two active eSIMs and can store eight or more eSIM profiles.

Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Apple C2

Wireless connectivity includes the Apple N1 chip, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread and second-generation Ultra Wideband. Cellular connectivity is handled by Apple C2, while navigation uses precision dual-frequency GPS.

Apple Intelligence and Siri AI

A20 Pro and its Dual 16-core Neural Engine are designed for demanding on-device Apple Intelligence workloads. Siri AI can also be used alongside content on the larger inner display. Feature availability varies by language and region.

Up to 2TB of storage
